Rolling

Rolling Machining for Threaded and Profiled Surfaces

Rolling is a final machining operation that uses cold plastic deformation to smooth and strengthen threads, screws, and cylindrical surfaces — without removing material. This process enhances mechanical strengthsurface finish, and overall durability, minimizing the risk of deformation during use.  With our state-of-the-art CNC machinery, we carry out rolling operations with maximum precision, delivering reliable components fully compatible with high-performance applications.  📍 We work with companies throughout Italy and Europe. Contact us for tailored advice on rolling, threading, and related machining processes.

How Rolling Works

Rolling is a precision surface-finishing process without chip removal, in which the component is passed through rotating tool rollers that cold-deform the material. This allows the surface to reach the required geometry, dimensions, and finish, whether on metal or plastic, in full compliance with the project specifications.  Because no material is removed and pressure is instead applied to plastically deform the part, the process also causes surface work hardening. This not only produces a mirror-like finish with roughness as low as a few tenths of a micron, but also enhances the internal structure, significantly increasing fatigue, wear, and corrosion resistance, even under demanding conditions.
